Radio ESPN 94.1 FM & AM 930 (WRVC)

WRVC is the oldest operating radio station in West Virginia. It was originally called WSAZ Radio (see WSAZ), the same call letters used for Channel 3-TV when it came into being in the late 1940s, and the television station still uses that long-time call. WRVC AM & FM is located in Huntington, West Virginia and is West Virginia's oldest continually licensed station. It began operations on October 16, 1923 as WSAZ-AM in Pomeroy, Ohio at the Chase Electric Shop. The station was moved to Huntington, W.Va. in 1927, moved to 930 AM in 1941 and has been there ever since, changing to WGNT-AM in the 1970s and to WRVC-AM in the 1990s. Currently it markets itself as "Supertalk 94.1 FM and AM 930," since the addition of a FM translator and another change of the format in May of 2009.

Currently, it carries programming from ESPN Radio from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and all weekend. Local talk shows include "Viewpoint" with former Huntington mayor Jean Dean at 9 a.m. and "Tri-State Talk" with former Huntington mayor and W.Va. statesman Bobby Nelson at 3 p.m. One thing that hasn't changed is the daily "Insider Sportsline" from 4-6 p.m., with Marshall "icon" Woody Woodrum, who covers Marshall University sports along with sports news on local, Tri-State, West Virginia and national items as well. West Virginia's MetroNews provides a "statewide" talk show M-F 10 a.m. until Noon, and then "The Ed Shultz Show" is a nationally syndicated show for the MSNBC-TV host that is on "Supertalk" from Noon to 3 p.m. daily.

WRVC is currently owned by Kindred Communications, and was the primary AM station in the market for many years. Nationally-owned competitor Clear Channel moved Rush Limbaugh and the Cincinnati Reds to WVHU-AM, whereupon WRVC 930 AM joined Air America Radio network in 2004. The result was a disastrous decline to a 0.6 local rating. In November 2006, WRVC became an almost 24-7 sports station for about three years, but also carried local music and church on weekends and daily local talk. "Supertalk" is a mix of news, talk and sports on May 18, 2009, the approximate of lineup mix the station had prior to 2006.

WRVC's also carries many local sports, including Marshall football, men's and women's basketball and baseball, as well as high school sports from Spring Valley High School. It also carries nationally syndicated games from Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the National Basketball League, as well as NCAA Basketball and "March Madness" Championships along with many college bowl games, including the BCS Championship and other BCS Bowls. It also carries the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on a regular basis. On the occasional rain-outs or due to programming conflicts for WDGG 93.7 FM, Supertalk will sometimes carry the Sprint Cup Series or Nationwide Series from NASCAR. WRVC is carrying programming from ESPN Radio, Westwood One, CNN, Sports USA Radio, ISP Sports, WV MetroNews and other outlets.

The station also carries other syndicated sports including Indy Car racing and horse racing and has carried the College World Series, NHL action and continues to carry state high school championship action.
