1986
In July, five months after the fall of the Marcos regime, ABS-CBN makes a comeback. The newly-formed PCGG turns two radio stations, DWWW and DWOK-FM, back to ABS-CBN, and DWWW is renamed DZMM carrying the tagline “ANG HIMPILAN NG MALAYANG MAMAMAYAN.”
Tiya Dely Magpayo is the first-ever anchor to grace the airwaves and broadcast live from the Chronicle Building in Pasig.
1987
DZMM starts building a remarkable roster of broadcasters including Korina Sanchez, Frankie Evangelista and Neil Ocampo.
In July, DZMM stages its first-ever FREE Medical and Dental Clinic helping over 200 indigents.
Radyo Patrol reporters provide the most comprehensive coverage of the Doña Paz sea tragedy.
1988-1989
Radyo Patrol reporters prove their reliability in the unforgettable coverage of the numerous coup attempts, year-long typhoon tragedies, and death of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
1990
Ted Failon joins DZMM’s roster of top-notch broadcasters, changing the AM landscape with his distinct and refined style of broadcasting first heard on a 2-4AM timeslot.
DZMM airs a comprehensive coverage of the killer earthquake that devastated the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Bauio, Tarlac, Nueva Viscaya and Metro Manila.
