Eden FM:

A historical background:

Initiative of four visionaries in the semi desert town of Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo.

Visionaries who shared a vision of bringing a voice to those citizens who were deprived of a voice by the then apartheid government.

After the second meeting met with initiatives in the coastal town of Mossel Bay and George. Initiatives who shared the same vision.

Formed a section 21, non profit company, with a board of five directors.

Named: CFM – Community FM and start broadcasting for the first time on 21 March 2003, Human Rights Day in South Africa.

CFM was renamed as Eden FM 16 June 2003, called Youth Day in South Africa.

Vision:

To establish a community radio station that brings a voice to those who previously were deprived of a voice.

Mission:

to establish a truly community radio station for the Southern Cape

to reconcile and bridge the gap between citizens in a diverse society

with programmes to inform, empower and educate

to celebrate diversity

and enhance the quality of life.
