Local radio stations all over the country have adopted many approaches to their still relatively new role. The approach of Clare FM, right from the beginning, has been to celebrate what is local, in every way, every day.

Every programme, every day, and every presenter, has a specific local-service brief, right from the Breakfast Show to late night listening. The flagship Morning Focus programme deals intensively with local issues with our local newsteam tackling all the major issues which occur in the county and further afield. Regular Outside Broadcasts, plus our weekday opt-out radio station in Shannon Town, reinforce county coverage. Coverage of all sports is unrivalled. Folklore programmes are a constant on the schedule, and extremely popular.

National & International Recognition

Clare FM has won National & International Recognition as one of the leading local radio stations in the country since its inception in September 1989. This success has been achieved through the station's commitment to a community-based broadcasting philosophy allied to a professional approach to programming. Clare FM has become as integrated an element of Clare's daily reality as the sound of traditional music, the clash of the ash, of tourists gathered at the Cliffs of Moher.

Current & Future Programming

Future projects and programme ideas in the pipeline are manifold and exciting. All, however, have to meet the fundamental policy requirement of serving Clare FM's loyal listenership even more stimulatingly than at present.

Most elements of the Clare FM broadcasting policy were expressed at a staff seminar in a few simple, yet aptly witty, sentences: "We have always known whose cattle were grazing the 'long acre' this morning, where the best music session was last night, who will be running for the County Council next time out. And we always need to be as tightly tuned into the local scene as that". And we always will be. That's CLARE FM.
