Our members are all volunteers and get great satisfaction from helping others. A number of our past members have gone on to careers in the media industry, with the BBC and commercial stations such as The Bay and Sky.
A National Lottery grant in 2016 enabled the purchase of IP Audio Codecs which now enable us to broadcast from almost any location. To date we have not had a location that has defeated our rock solid 4G connection or Radome aerial, including our footballing trips to Lowestoft and Bristol Rovers. Our Codecs must be some of the most utilized kit in hospital radio, being taken out almost every weekend!
However, some of our most enjoyable work takes place inside the hospital. We believe that hospital radio is not about glamour or awards, but instead should be all about the patient. Our Easter Radiothons and Mince Pie Runs, along with the Dementia Awareness Tea Dances at all three Morecambe Bay hospitals, involving staff and patients, have proved to be the most memorable days for our volunteers.
