The Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) is the official radio broadcast arm of the Philippine government. The 32 PBS radio stations comprising five in Metro Manila and 27 strategically located in various provinces, broadcast an average of seventeen hours from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, including Sundays and public holidays.

Most of its provincial radio stations are located in areas with no commercial radio stations, each station producing programmes catering to its regional audience.

News and public affairs programmes constitute the bulk of PBS transmission. Emphasis is placed on programme content that promotes public awareness of official government activities, presidential addresses, Senate and House proceedings, and national events.

DZSR broadcasts sports and news programmes for 18hours, DZRB (Radio ng Bayan) or the people’s radio is the voice or pulse of the citizenry. As the government’s flagship radio station it serves as a medium of development communication, a conduit between the government and the people. DWBR-FM features hourly business news while DZRM (Radio Manila) is its educational station. Radio Pilipinas is PBS overseas service broadcasting in English and Tagalog.
