It flipped to Beautiful music as WEZI in 1983, but would drop the format by the end of the decade for Oldies as WODZ and by 1992 they would switch frequencies to 94.1. In 1993 they would go Country as WOGY, where they would continue in that direction until 2001, when they flipped to Adult Top 40 as "94.1 The Buzz".
After the station's incarnation as the Buzz had run its course and ratings were low, owner Entercom, which had just purchased format rival WMC-FM in August 2006, opted for a new format being tried nationwide. This rhythmic version of adult contemporary is being dubbed "MOViN'" in many markets. Entercom named 94.1 "Snap," since "MOViN'" is a trademark not owned by Entercom.
WKQK is one of six radio properties in the Memphis market held by Entercom; the others are WMC-FM, WRVR-FM, WMFS, WMC-AM, and WMFS-FM. WKQK maintains studios in the Entercom complex in eastern Memphis.
Entercom announced on the morning of October 17, 2008 that WSNA's format would be changing, though what that format would be had yet to be confirmed. Management had announced on co-owned WMC-FM that the new format's morning team would include long-time WMC-FM co-host Karen Perrin, and former WMC-FM co-host Steve Conley. The two would take their new slots the following Monday morning.
On October 17, 2008, WSNA changed its format to Classic Hits, rebranding the station as Classic Hits 94.1 KQK. The station's call letters were changed from WSNA to WKQK. The first song played on 94.1 KQK was Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll." The station plays music from the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s.
