It is owned and operated by James G Boles Jr. The station, along with KWHW (1450 AM) and KRKZ (now KPRO, 93.5 FM), was acquired by Monarch Broadcasting from Altus Radio, Inc. in 2003. Recently, on September 8, 2021, James G Boles Jr. acquired KQTZ, along with KWHW, KRKZ, and translator K245CU.
